I had a terrible experience with Hotchkiss auto repair. They took my hybrid Volvo XC 90 into their shop, knowing that they did not work on hybrid vehicles. This was the fact that they did not divulge to me until much later. They kept my car for a week after which they allegedly felt that they had repaired the vehicle. It took me five seconds behind the wheel to know that they had not. I went back within minutes of getting my car returned to me and made the man working there sit in the passenger Seat with me as I drove my car. He refused to acknowledge that there was still a problem with the acceleration of my engine and still charged me full price for a repair that was not performed. "Seems fine to me". I called back with the complaint because I was so irritated with their lack of customer service and they reluctantly agreed to give me a $90 gift certificate for future services at their garage but declined to reimburse me any part of the fee that they had charged for doing absolutely nothing to my car. I ultimately took my Volvo to Rickenbaugh And they were able to fix the hybrid engine fairly quickly. After my car was repaired by Rickenbaugh, I called the folks at Hotchkiss and informed them. The gentleman I spoke to said, "you mean the Volvo has a Separate hybrid engine, and a separate gas engine?" This seems like something that someone who does car repair should know without being informed by me! I feel that they took advantage of me by taking my car in when they knew they had no business working on Hybrid cars. In addition, I feel that the nominal gift certificate they offered me was deceitful and a complete scam. What they should have done was to come clean about the fact that they could not provide the service i needed and let me just take my car somewhere that could help. That's what an honest business would've done. The fact that they charged me anything seems rather unbelievable, knowing what I know now (Namely, that they don't work on hybrid vehicles). Never again. If you are a woman coming in by yourself, prepare to be taken advantage of and taken for a ride, both literally and figuratively.

Hotchkiss Auto has completely fallen apart. I’ve been forced to bring my car in weekly for over 7 weeks, and all manager Lennie could give me was a flimsy paragraph about what was “done.” Most recently, my car sat there for 8 days and technician Tara admitted they only worked on it for 3. Unprofessional, disorganized, and careless with customers’ time and money. They clearly take on more than they can handle and leave paying customers hanging. Hotchkiss Auto is not the shop it used to be—sad and disappointing decline.

I am very skeptical when it comes to car shops. After finding this one I no longer have to feel that way. Highly recommend. This will be my go to place with any and all car maintenance!

I’ve been taking my old 2003 Grand Cherokee to Hotchkiss for over a year now and they’ve always addressed my issues perfectly and have kept my Jeep running even after it was neglected its whole life by its previous owners. I would definitely recommend Hotchkiss to anyone in need of vehicle repairs or maintenance!
