I don't have a ton to say that hasn't already been said in other reviews, but I'll sum up my thoughts quickly below - jump to the bullet points if you don't care about the whole story . . . I called Hotchkiss to get a quote for replacing my 2 front shocks since I was pretty sure I already knew what the problem was with my 1998 Toyota 4Runner. He gave me a quote over the phone (which a lot of places that I called refused to do. When I dropped off the car, they took me out on a quick test drive so I could show them what I was hearing. When we got back, they put it up on the rack and told me I could wait in the waiting room while they diagnosed the problem. When they were done, they called me back to the car so they could show me exactly what was going on (I was right - the shock mount was torn completely off and was just hanging there). They also showed me my front struts and said that I didn't need to replace them now, but they were rusty and may need to be done in the next year or two. I asked if there was any benefit to doing them now, and they said no (could have said yes and been dishonest, but they chose not to). They told me the work would be done later that afternoon. I came back just before they closed and picked up the car. They told me that they had to do some extra work to get the new shocks on because the car is so old and has some rust, but they didn't charge me for that. Super nice folks and very honest. Very impressive! In short: - Reasonable price - Friendly - Honest - Communicative - Super easy to work with Great option for work on your car!

Condescending guy with a creepy smile at the front desk clearly trying to rip me off.

We are very sorry that you had a negative experience with our shop. We aim to have 100% customer satisfaction but we sometimes fall short. Our pricing is normally lower than many of our competitors of similar high quality but we possibly could have provided you incorrect pricing. If that happened, we apologize! Would you mind speaking with us in more detail about that negative experience? Please ask for Tom if you can call in. If we made a mistake, we want to be sure the situation doesn't happen again. Regardless, we apologize and commit to do better. We understand if you no longer want to work with our team, but if you give us another shot, I promise you will not regret it. Specifically ask to work with Justin or Thomas and we'll make sure you receive the high level of customer service Hotchkiss Auto Repair has been known for across multiple decades.

Honestly the first time I feel like there's a place I know I can call. I will definitely continue to use these guys/gals. Very clear and concise communication from my initial phone call all the way through the drop off, and pick up.

Elite '2020 Elite '2020 I have been using Hotchkiss for about 4 years now and they continue to shine. I LOVE their staff, the honesty of the shop and mechanics and would rate this the BEST auto repair shop in Denver hands down! Update from my post on 09/09/2015: Great service. Honest shop. The first time I took my car in, I swore up and down I needed new shocks. They saved me over $1K by fixing the alignment instead. Second time I went in for a standard oil change and 100k tune up. It cost way less than I was expecting! They called regularly with updates, cost estimates and made recommendations for things I could do myself. Great shop! I would highly recommend. Great service. Went in to have an ignition coil replaced, highly inflated labor and parts costs, a factory new coil is $89.99 at the AutoZone, theirs was invoiced at 139.99, the amount of labor to change a coil and spark plug is about 30 minutes, throw in testing time and idle time, another 30 minutes, they charged me for over 3 hours of labor.

We feel terrible you did not have a positive experience when you visited our shop a few years ago. We normally take pride in our pricing being more fair relative to competitors of similar quality, but we could have made a mistake in that situation. Also, we tend to install higher quality parts from dealership compared to cheaper parts at some auto parts stores... that could have impacted the unexpected pricing. In addition, for 20 years our team only charges labor hours based on 3rd party guides which is industry standard. Regardless of what happened, we apologize for not alleviating your frustration when you visited. We can do better. We understand if you no longer want to work with our team, but if you give us another shot, I promise you will not regret it. This place is awesome. I had my car towed here after the transmission went out. My car was here for three days, they ran a diagnostic test, and didn't charge me a dime because they didn't have "good news" for me. What auto shop does that?! They took it upon themselves to call a dealer to find out if my car was still under warranty, and it was! This place is really awesome, will only go to them if I ever have a major issue with my car again.

My Saab has more than 280,000 miles on its odometer, and just when I'm ready to throw in the towel, Hotchkiss convinces me that I needn't pull the plug just yet. Auto repair, for those of us who know nothing of internal combustion engines, is all about trust. Hotchkiss always delivers honest, quality service at a reasonable price. What more could you ask for? Bring it here. You will not be disappointed. What can I say about this business and its owner? My old car keeps on ticking with 268k on the odometer, and Hotchkiss keeps on finding reasonable ($) solutions to potentially expensive problems. Honest, creative, high quality people from the owner, to the mechanics, to the front office. Take your car here, and you will not be disappointed. Love these guys!!! Read more Without a doubt, this is one of the best repair shops around. I drive an aging Saab, an east coast car, with all of the rust, frozen nuts and bolts, and other scars from years of exposure to road salt. After receiving an estimate for pads and rotors, sway bar links, and bushings that exceeded my budget, I decided to do the work myself with parts ordered from Rock Auto. The brakes went relatively smoothly, but a pair of stubborn bolts on the passenger-side sway bar link, lack of an air gun, and too many hours of toil forced me to give up and call Hotchkiss. Christi was fabulous! She told me Hotchkiss would be willing to remove the stubborn, rusted sway bar link and rear bushings and replace them with parts I had ordered from Rock Auto. The charge would be for labor only with the caveat that the work would not be under warranty because the shop would not be supplying the parts. When the tech removed rear bushings, he discovered that the originals were in fine shape and would not require replacement. I walked away with a new front sway bar link, no charge for the labor on the rear bushings, and a bill under $50. This is a first class, honest business. My old car has a new home for all services, both minor and major. Read more

Hotchkiss is awesome. They're friendly and honest and do great work. They learn your name and remember you when you come back. The best car repair experience I've ever had!

A while back we got a remote car started from Car Toys. Car Toys could never actually get the started installed, but left me with my interior dash lights being unable to dim. They couldn't help me fix it. It was very dangerous at night (especially in the mountains!) when the bright dash lights would give a glare on the windshield. I brought my car to Hotchkiss. I expected it to be an expensive electric issue costing a few hundred dollars. NOPE! The staff at Hotchkiss found the dimmer was unplugged. They fixed it free of cost!!! The staff was friendly, courteous, and HONEST. I will be taking any car repair business in the future to them.

Elite '2020 Elite '2020 Great experience. They were honest and did great work. I had to wait a week to have an inspection for a brake problem, but they were kind enough to test drive my car immediately and make sure it was safe to drive in the meantime.
